Statement by New York City Council Speaker Hon. Christine C. Quinn
May 10, 2012
Victor Mooney’s planned journey is as incredible
as it is brave. Some thirty years since the first diagnosis of an epidemic that changed our lives forever, we are still dealing
with its spread into our communities. From Brooklyn to Africa and beyond, this is a battle we continue to face. It is important
to remember that our most powerful weapon in the fight against HIV/AIDS is, and always has been, our voice.
We still must raise $6,000.00 more to purchase this
boat, before it can be shipped from Sao Paulo, Brazil to New York.
