Old City, Jerusalem - On a 72 hour visit to Israel, Mooney slept in the Arab section outside the Old City. The Palm Hostel was his residence. He visited many Religious Sites inside the Old City. Before one of Mooney's daily workout sessions, he met Mr. Bruce Ratner, of Forest City Ratner Companies, who talked about the Civil Rights Movement in the 60's which brought African-Americans and Jews fighting for the same cause. Prior to making his first trip to Israel, Mooney was on a Catholic Pilgrimage in Rome. On World AIDS Day 2004, Mooney received an audience with Pope John Paul II. In May 2006, Mooney embarked on a rowing expedition, which would have taken him from Goree Island, Senegal to the United States of America. His boat suffered a leak and sunk. His goal was to encourage Abstinence, AIDS Education and Prevention. Mooney's rowing route is similar to the trans - Atlantic slave trade, which carried millions of Africans into slavery. |
